Round up of 2017/18

Looking back on 2017/18, the below was written by our Head of Youth Activities Dan Carter.

We're at that time of year where I am having to write report's and evidence our activities for our funders, so I thought it would be a good time to have a quick look back over the year.

First off a massive thank you must go to all of our staff & volunteers who make our activities possible and to our funders and those who have donated to us! Without all of you, what we do wouldn't be possible.

Back in April saw our very first Easter themed Family Fun Day, where we had around 100 people attending the movie in the morning and over 200 attending the vast range of arts & crafts and sports activites in the afternoon. Considering it was our first time running this event we were so happy with the support that was shown by everyone who came along on the day and we are really excited to be holding another Easter Fun Day on April 5th this year.

Another activity we ran was attending Thatcham Town Councils Family Fun Day at Henwick. We used the day to run two bouncy castles for those attending and we were able to raise some vital funds to help us! It was a great day with so many community groups attending putting on lots of events.

September 2017 saw the exciting launch of our G-STAX Youth Club, which we brought in to compliment and be a follow on from our Vision Youth Club. Running on a Monday night from 7pm - 8.30pm, the club has seen its numbers grow steadily over time and the whole team are really looking forward to 2018/19 and what the future holds for the club!

Then taking a look at our usual activities our Vision Youth Club continued to grow from strength to strength. The club now attracts an average of 60 young people every single week and during Janury - March generally was full at 75! Which was fab to see. As for our Thatcham Roller Disco this has continued to offer a great monthly activity in the Thatcham, backed and made possible by a grant from Thatcham Town Council we see around 120 each month attending these events. Our Family Movie Evenings continue to offer a good family night, with various movies being shown over the last year we have welcomed lots of you in.

2018/19 looks to be another exciting year for us here at Thatcham Youth and we are looking forward to working with a few local community groups on some activities and projects.

As always, if you want to help us out in any way as a volunteer, please get in touch!
