This month Thatcham Youth are celebrating being awarded not one, but two awards from Thatcham Town Council! Each year the council opens its Civic Award nominations for community groups and individuals who have made a contribution to Thatcham. Celebrating our tenth year, Thatcham Youth were awarded the highest possible, Gold Town Council Civic Award for services to young people over the last ten year and our continued support to young people during the pandemic. Our very hard working & dedicated Head of Youth Activities Dan was presented with a Mayors award, for his dedication to Thatcham Youth & the wider Thatcham community over the last ten years.
After what has been an extremely challenging year for us, it has been wonderful to be presented with both of these awards and coupled with our National Lottery Funding award this year, has got 2021 off to an amazing start. On the awards, Dan said, “It’s a great recognition and appreciation for all of the staff and volunteers over the past ten years at Thatcham Youth for the work we put in to receive this award,” adding about receiving an award himself, “It’s really nice to be recognised for my work with Thatcham Youth, I put in the voluntary hours not for recognition but to make a difference in young peoples lives in the town, but getting recognition shows the hard work is appreciated by so many.”
The awards will be displayed at Moorside Community Centre for people to be able to view. You can check out the Newbury Weekly News to see the other Civic award winners too.
