Our Story So Far

Thatcham Youth was established in 2010 when a local young resident approached Thatcham Vision to ask for a youth club for his age group, he was 10 at the time.  After meetings with lots of partners and a lot of hard work, Vision Youth Club opened it’s doors in April 2010 and continues to run today and is a very popular club!

In 2014 we took on responsibility for establishing a regular Roller Disco in Thatcham, following the success of the annual events held each year during Thatcham Festival.  Thatcham Roller Disco launched on 1st March 2014 and continues to be held on the first Saturday of each month at Kennet Leisure Centre.

In 2017 we launched G-STAX Youth Club for 11-14 Year Olds, now known as The Zone, which runs weekly on a Monday from 7-8.30pm at Moorside Community Centre.

In 2019 we launched our brand new Outreach Youth Service, going out onto the streets of Thatcham to engage with young people directly and encourage them to get involved with our youth clubs and activities and this runs during the spring & summer months. We also began to run regular free school holiday activities during the Easter & Summer holidays and these are a main part of our activity offering.

2020 & 2021 were challenging year’s for the charity as we offered a range of virtual sessions during lockdown and restricted youth club sessions as we had to adapt to the constant changes.

2022 saw a full return of our activities & normality resuming, with both our weekly youth clubs back to operating fully, free school holiday programme & Roller Disco back in full force. We also re-launched our outreach youth work project, opened a brand new mental health support group programme & jointly launched a free school holiday programme in summer for secondary aged school pupils.
